Snowboarding

Since the snowboarding season is very short in Greece, we've spent the last couple of weekends driving outside of Athens to the ski resort Parnassos. We went with our friends Kosta and Daiva staying one weekend in Arahova and Valentines weekend in Delphi.

The first weekend we went (Jan. 10/11), we were actually snowboarding above the clouds. This picture is from the top of the mountain and where you can sometimes see the sea, you can just see the tops of other mountains and fluffy white clouds.

Kosta and Richard... Being from an island, we think Kosta secretly thinks we are all nuts for going anywhere that is as cold as it is on the top of the mountain.

The week before Valentine's Day the mountain got over 4 meters of snow so the conditions were perfect!

We also went snowmobiling through the forest.

It was freezing cold flying through the fields on the snowmobiles.

There was so much snow we even had to use snowchains. Kosta and Daiva have become professionals!

The view from our hotel in Delphi.

You can see the little town of Galaxidi on the coast of the sea in the distance.

Since there was so much snow on Valentine's Day, we couldn't make it up the mountain on Saturday. We decided to go ice skating instead.

Each evening we enjoyed excellent grilled meat dinners and the men enjoyed some cigars at the coffee shop.
