After a lovely train ride through the country side, we arrived in Amsterdam. We stayed in a cute bed and breakfast downtown next to the flower market and walked the entire city.

The afternoon we arrived, we walked down the canal with the famous "7 bridges". The canals were packed with tiny row boats and the streets were filled with bikes.

Many of the houses have partially sunk, making everything look crooked.

The first morning, we walked to Anne Frank's house and visited this church where the queen of Holland was married.

This is the "parking garage" at the central train station!

After lunch, we headed out to the Keukenof flower garden and the bulb fields where they harvest the bulbs which are shipped all over the world. Since it was the end of April, all of the flowers were in full bloom.

Purple tulips

The pond at the garden had "lily pads" that people could walk out on.

Richard and Meredith in the park.

We also paid a visit to the red light district...
On our second day in Amsterdam we toured the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum. We thought some time with art museums would make up for any time spent in less sophisticated parts of the city!
After a few days in Amsterdam, we headed to Prague.
