Prague

After our adventures in Amsterdam we took a short flight to Prague. Prague is a beautiful city virtually untouched by the bombings of WWII. We were only able to visit for two days so we focused our touring on the old town, the little quarter and the castle. We did a lot of strolling the small cobble stone streets, window shopping, shopping in the market, and enjoying Czech beer in small cafes.

Above is the famous Charles Bridge connecting the old town to the little quarter. Our hotel was on the little quarter side of the river and we had a view of the Charles Bridge and the Castle from our window.

Here is the view of Prague's red roofs and the Vitava river from the Prague Castle. We had lunch just outside the walls of the Castle and had a similar view at our table.

As we were leaving our hotel room one evening on our way to dinner we heard fireworks in the distance. We snapped this night shot of the Charles Bridge and the fireworks from the bridge near our hotel.

Inside the walls of the Prague Castle is St. Vitus' Church. We took our time touring the Church. Inside the church we saw the all silver Tomb of St. John Nepomuk and the Royal Mausoleum where Ferdinand the 1st and his son Maximilian are buried.

The view of the beautiful stained glass windows above the alter in St. Vitus' Church.

We had a delicious dinner of Czech pilsner beer, pork knuckle and sauerkraut just alongside the main square in the old town. We stopped by the old town hall to watch the Astronomical Clock play a tune at the top of the hour.

To continue our trends of dinner cruises while on this vacation we took a cruise on the "Jazz Boat" on our last night in Prague. The meal was very good and the jazz band was excellent. The views of Prague lit up at night were tremendous.
