An early morning in Rhodes

After our lucky night at the roulette table, watching a "Greek Flavors Show" and relaxing at the piano bar, we arrived bright and early (7am) in Rhodes. We had all day to explore the town so we headed into "Old Town" to see The Street of the Knights, the Archaeological Museum, the Mosque of Suleyman the Magnificent, and the Palace of the Grand Master. The town was all paved with cobblestone streets and fortress walls which have been standing for thousands of years. The Knights of St. John built their citadel, when they arrived in 1309, over the ancient remains of a city that dates back to 408BC.

After a lunch on board, we headed back out to explore the "New town" including the casino and local beaches. It was a nice walk followed by more shopping in Old town. Following a full day of walking, Meredith, Margo and Sarah enjoyed massages/facials and pedicures on the ship while we sailed over night to Crete.

Rich used his French to have a nice French couple take our picture in front of the ship.

The entrance to the harbor of Rhodes old town. You can see the fortress walls that still surround the city and the palace in the center.

Margo thought this statue needed a head. Most of the statues in the museums are only bodies with no heads, arms or legs.

The clock tower in Old Town.

The Street of the Knights. Walking down the street you can see the emblems of all of the various nationalities of the Knights over the doorways.

All of the walking tired Bryce out so he took a nap on Uncle Rich's shoulder.

Bryce is introduced to ICE CREAM.....

Its very very cold.....
but very very yummy...

He seemed to like it much better than the Greek Baby Veggies!
